Importing refers to buying goods outside the country where you live and having them shipped to you in order to sell for a profit. China is the biggest export market and has some of the largest manufactures in the world.</span></p>

<p>The first thing you need to know about <em>selling on eBay</em> and the profit margins of power sellers, is that it’s really low.  Unbeknownst to most people, powers sellers actually make most of their money by depending on a single strategy.  That strategy is large sales and small profits, and yes it works.</p>
<p><strong>What does this mean?</strong></p>
<p>Well, let’s think logically about selling on eBay.  If your goal is to make a $40.00 profit on a single item, then you are in the wrong business.  Power sellers make an average of $5.00-10.00 profit per item that is sold.  These sellers rely on the amount of items being sold and not on the price.  In other words, it’s the quantity that matters most.</p>
<p><strong>Here’s an example of what we mean:</strong></p>
<p>Imagine that you are a store owner <span style="text-decoration: underline;">selling on eBay</span>.  If you sell a total of 50 different items in the same day, with a $5.00 profit on each item, you will make a total of $250.00 net profit.  That’s just in one day!  Can you imagine how much you would make if you sold just a little more than 50 items? You’re profit would increase dramatically with each extra item being sold.  Even if you’re profiting only $3.00 per item, your end balance after selling a large quantity would be immense.  Think about how much profit you would make if you sold 100 items in one day.  Net profit is calculated after paying PayPal, shipping, and eBay fees.</p>
<p><strong>What is the strategy for this type of business?</strong></p>
<p>eBay Power sellers who aim for this type of large sales and low profit business model must equalize their prices to the average rates on eBay.  Sometimes they can be a little lower depending on the quantity of items being sold.  Power sellers sometimes lower their prices more than the average in order to establish popularity amongst buyers.</p>
<p>Believe it or not, there are some sellers who are selling products on eBay a little cheaper than the amount they actually paid for it.  You might wonder, how is any profit going to be earned if you are selling products cheaper then you paid for them?</p>
<p>Well…let’s look at an example to understand this strategy better.</p>
<p>Let’s say that you are looking for cameras to buy and you find that the cheapest price per unit is $89.00.  Imagine that you buy these cameras for these prices and sell them for $122.00 per unit in an attempt to make your profit.  Most likely, your sales will not exceed more than 1 or 2 units or none! What is the solution to make more profit selling on eBay in a situation like this?</p>
<p><strong>Here is what power sellers do:</strong></p>
<p>Power sellers will purchase these items for $89.99 per unit.  They then list them on eBay for $89.99, the same price they were purchased with.  The secret here is to add an extra minimum fee to the shipping costs.  For example they may charge $18.99 for shipping and an additional $2.99 for a required insurance fee.</p>
<p>Matter of the fact is shipping will only be a maximum of $4.99 per item or so.  If a deal is made with shipping companies, you may only ship the item cheaper eBay may charge you pennies per listing if you use eBay stores to list your items.  PayPal will also charge you a fee for providing their service.</p>
<p>Remember that most eBay buyers prefer using Paypal as a trusted source of payment. Even with all these fees and deductions from your net profit, you will still be making around 5.00-7.00 net profit per item.  This means that if you end up selling around 50 items that day, you will be making a total net profit of $250.00-400.00.<br />
As you can see trying to make a profit selling on eBay by selling high ticket items one at a time is not a winning eBay selling strategy, instead by selling in high volumes at a lower profit is the way to go. You must understand that most eBay buyers are out to get a bargain, if they think your price is to high they will move on to the next eBay seller.</p>
